Carlos Orta

Vice President of Regulatory Policy
National Banking and Securities Commission of Mexico

Mr. Carlos Orta is currently Vice-President for Regulatory Policy of Mexico's National Banking and Securities Commission with more than 20 years of professional experience in the financial sector. He manages the Divisions of Regulatory Policy Development, Economic Studies, International Affairs and Financial Inclusion.

Previously, he held the position of Director General for Regulatory Policy Development, where he was responsible for the development of prudential, accounting and securities related regulatory policies at the CNBV.

Mr. Orta is a member of CNBV's Board of Directors, of the Mexico's Financial System Stability Council and serves as Executive Secretary at the National Council for Financial Inclusion. He represents the CNBV on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and other working groups of other international standard setters, such as the Financial Stability Board and the International Organization of Securities Commissions.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a MSc Degree in Money, Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
